| The Auckland Regional portal
The Auckland Regional portal www.aucklandregion.com was initially set up to provide Internet access to services and information maintained by various councils in the Auckland region. The portal provides direct links to the region’s eight local authority websites in addition to displaying news items from each council. With the launch of a much improved whole of government portal www.govt.nz it was decided by Auckland Councils that all visitors should be directed to the central government portal as it provides information at central, regional and local levels.
This approach meets central government’s objective of having seamless access to government information and services irrespective of what arm of government is involved.
Furthermore, information regarding travel and tourism is already covered by a number of other sites such as Tourism Auckland. |
The Auckland region stretches from the wild, expansive west coast beaches that abut the Tasman Sea, to the white sand coastline of the mighty Pacific Ocean to the east.
A marine playground, a gateway to other parts of New Zealand, a centre of commerce, entertainment, education and a great lifestyle - this is the Auckland Region.
It is administered by eight local authorities, and each has a distinctive personality and character. And we all call Auckland home.
